This incredible group of grade 7 and 8 students are truly young leaders! Their best practice in bullying prevention includes presentations to not only fellow peers but also to university students, parents, educators and New Brunswick’s Ministry of Education. They are working with the Ministry on new anti-bullying policies and initiatives. This very committed team use social media to connect across North America and have done countless radio, TV and newspaper interviews to share their anti-bullying message. This exceptional young lady has been instrumental in making a difference in her school community and half-way around the world. Brittany has led numerous in school anti-bullying workshops, raised her own funds to volunteer on a humanitarian trip to Kenya, helps prepare meals for the less fortunate and assists people with physical disabilities are just some examples of how she is making a difference. A very busy leader, Brittany encompasses the 3R’s with high regards!

Loretto Abbey’s Safe Schools Empowered Student Partnership Program with Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving work tirelessly to address the issue of drinking, texting and driving. As key organizers of a city wide conference engaging other High Schools, this awarding winning team are also recognized for their countless projects, fundraisers and school-wide events. Active in spreading their message, these leaders are impactful, motivational and inspirational.

Anisha is the proud co-founder of the Gossip Free Zones, which is designed to empower youth to be leaders and not followers. This motivated young lady, believes that gossip is a preliminary form of bullying. She is committed to establishing schools as “Gossip Free Zones” and to hosting semi-annual summits. She has also developed a website that offers resources and educates all people about her program. Very creative Anisha, congratulations!

This dynamic committee came together with much dedication to produce a powerful anti-bullying video “You Have the Power” for Jasmine Richards, which launched globally last month. This group’s effort and determination led to an energetic, professional event open their entire student body. Described as “the best school experience and opportunity that I have ever been a part of as an educator” makes this committee a winning W.A.V.E. team!
