Youth Application Deadline: March 10, 2017
The Louise Russo Youth Awards recognize youth that exemplify the 3R’s – Respect, Responsibility and the Role of leadership through initiatives that reduce violence in their communities. The Award celebrates and honours the qualities that are important in making our communities a safe place to live, learn and play.
These individuals took the initiative to organize direct outreach and networking activities that focused on the 3R’s – Respect, Responsibility and the Role of leadership, to create a safer place to live, learn and play.
The day’s activities culminate with some exceptional young people receiving five (5) Youth Awards (individuals or teams) and three (3) Leadership Awards, attended by their peers, teachers and corporate sponsors. To date we have recognized (66) Youth and Leadership Awards in the form of a bursary towards the student’s education or program initiative.
We believe that promoting and recognizing youth initiatives provides inspiration to us all.
Youth, between the ages of 12 to 19, presently enrolled in School or an educational program, who have made a difference, are encouraged to submit an application for a Youth or Leadership Award.
Each year, we are encouraged by the increase of youth award applications received, not just from Ontario, but from outside the province as well. Applications come in from across Canada, Manitoba, New Brunswick, British Columbia, Nova Scotia & Alberta. Students from across Canada are sharing the W.A.V.E. message!
Five Youth Awards of $1,000 for Individual and Team Youth Awards and three Leadership Awards of $500 will be presented on May 10, 2017 at the W.A.V.E. Empowering Youth Day:
