Youth, between the ages of 9 to 19, presently enrolled in School or an educational program, who have made a difference, are encouraged to submit an application for a Louise Russo Youth or Leadership Award. Award recipients are recognized for their involvement in leading a project that has made a change in the community or school and their capability of inspiring others to continue with a good works initiative that demonstrates respect for others and responsibility to their schools and/or community.
Every year our charity issues five (5) Louise Russo Youth Awards (individuals or teams) and three (3) Leadership Awards.
Each year, we are encouraged by the increase of youth award applications received, not just from Ontario, but from outside the province as well. In 2010, three (3) applications came from Winnipeg, with one applicant being selected for a Leadership Award. For 2011, more applications came from Vancouver, Calgary and Nova Scotia, which demonstrates that our message is spreading across Canada.
We believe that promoting and recognizing youth initiatives provides inspiration to us all. To date we have recognized (32) Youth and Leadership Awards in the form of bursaries towards the student’s education or program initiative.
